TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Begin your adventure with a thrilling scenic flight departing Kununurra over Lake Argyle, Ord Irrigation Area, Bow River and the Bungle Bungle Range. This flight will touch down at remote Bellburn Airstrip in Purnululu National Park. You will then be met by your guide, who will drive you closer into the Bungle Bungle Range in a fully air-conditioned 4WD bus.

From here, you will follow your guide on a 3km guided walk amongst the famous eroded towers and black and orange banded domes on the Domes Walk. Making you way into Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs open to form a space with awe inspiring natural acoustics, you will walk along the rocky bed of Piccaninny Creek, which only flows in the monsoon waterfall season. A tasty picnic lunch will be provided to keep you fueled whilst exploring the Park.

You will then take a 65-minute drive to the northern end of the Park along the Western Wall of the Bungle Bungle Range. Head into Echidna Chasm on a rocky path nestled between cliffs that narrows at points to less than 1.5 metres wide. This 1.5 hour walk can be challenging at points and requires full mobility. After a fantastic day of walking and exploring, you will take your return flight to Kununurra, passing over the fascinating Argyle Diamond Mine.

Testimonials

  • 'Hi Yvonne, thank you for all your help in organising the trip for my Dad. He had a wonderful time! Everyone from you (and the other reservation staff), the staff at Freshwater Apartments, Aviair, Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge and our guide Lisa were so helpful, welcoming and friendly. The scenery was of course spectacular! And it was really good having the pilots and Lisa provide some knowledge on the area. We couldn’t have had a better time.' Angela
  • Tour guide Pete was the best guide we've had in Australia. Partner Tash was welcoming and very professional. A huge thank you to them both!   Steve & Ann

  • I went on the BB1 tour and it was fantastic from start to finish. After our flight from Kununurra we landed at the spectacular Bungle Bungles and were given a warm welcome by tour guide.

  • Wonderful. A camera full of photos, a mind full of exceptional memories. The tour guides and lodge staff were excellent. We loved the cabins.   Alison & Robert
  • Daisy and Jen: two guides with vastly different backgrounds combined to create a surprisingly thoughtful and informative Bungle Bungles tour. Daisy brought delightful candour and mature insight into her discussion about local Aboriginal culture. Jen added her depth of knowledge of the Bungles' geology and botany. Together they worked seamlessly to walk us through the Bungles, learning as we went, and taking a great deal of care to ensure that we traveled at an easy pace, with plenty of stops for rest and hydration because of the heat. A really enjoyable and informative tour. - Physeter
